COLLEGE ADVANCEMENT SUMMER INTERNSHIP

College Advancement is currently seeking an organized, motivated, and engaged intern who is interested in learning more about alumni engagement, data management, and fundraising. Students from all classes are eligible to apply. The ideal candidate is passionate about the college and wants to better understand research, alumni engagement, and fundraising in higher education.

The role requires students to manage aspects of the operations and data collection for the Presidential Fellowship, coordinate weekly meetings in Teams, and carry out a project in one of the two areas listed below:

  • Prospect Research: If interested in this track, the applicant will have the opportunity to work on projects and tasks relating to prospect research, which may include data analysis and projects relating to prospect identification and prospect management. As Prospect Research serves an integral role in nonprofit advancement by identifying new potential donors to the institution, this track would be a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, proficient in internet research, and has excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Annual Fund: If interested in this track, the applicant will have the opportunity to work on projects relating to annual giving. This may include working on fundraising appeals, donor communication, data analysis, and constituent outreach. As annual giving provides support for Dickinson’s areas of greatest need, this work is a meaningful way to support your institution, learn about nonprofit advancement, and interact with the alumni community. Upon student interest and needs of the office, the student may be asked to take on some duties as a Presidential Fellow. This would require using a designed questionnaire to interview alumni and evaluate their level of engagement. The student must be willing to do some local travel. All reasonable travel accommodations and needs required for this position are covered by the college.

This internship is a full-time paid position of 35 hours and based in the College Advancement office. Please note that this position does not include summer housing or costs not directly related to the internship. This position is part of the INP program and the student will be required to fulfill the reflective curriculum necessary to receive credit.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required on the first day of employment including non-resident alien students with an F-1 Visa using CPT or OPT.

This position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit development work, data management, and communications.

Applications will open Monday, December 9th and close at 11:59pm on Friday, January 31st.

To apply, please use our job post on Handshake. Applications require a resume, two faculty/staff references (one of which must be a faculty member), and a cover letter indicating which one of the two project tracks you would choose and why.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. For more details on how to submit the appropriate materials, please visit our job posting. Promising candidates will be selected for an in-person interview after successful completion and submission of their application.
